Anyone can suggest / create a new topic for discussion.  The blog provides a running commentary about some topic, thought, gripe etc.  It's actually a pretty neat place to have a centralized, easy access place to collect and disseminate all kinds of thoughts, preferences, objections  about the Big Event.

Click on the "Add Comment" text below the topic and say what you will.  Comments are then reviewed for appropriatnes (no threats, disclosure of any information deemed sensitive, obnoxious, rude, disparaging, etc.).  Typically, comments are reviewed by the webmaster and approved in short order.  Questionable comments will be referred to the Committee of Five for a consenus ruling.

Submit new topics using the Contact us Tab.

Having said all that - Blog On!

If you do not see your comments after a reasonable period for it to be reviewed / approved, look for the subject under Archive then click.

Venue Preferences, Requests, Comments Etc.

Long Branch High School
Long Branch High School
It's getting late as far as reserving a venue is concerned and the first meeting of the Committee of Six will be Wednesday evening 11/05/2014 at 7:00 PM.  Comments, concerns, preferences about where, when and what can be addressed here for consideration.

Bear in mind:
  • There were 393 Graduates in June 1965.
  • About 100 attended the 45th at Charlies Ocean Grill (class mates and their significant other - about 50 graduates)
  • We currently have contact information for 54 classmates.
  • Please refer to the Venues tab for hyperlinks to the venues under consideration.
  • If you have not done so - please take the Poll on the Poll Page, don't forget to press VOTE the press RESULTS to see the current results.

To be fair, there were actually more than 100 poeple at the 2010 reunion at Charley's. More than half of those were classmates, as not everyone brought a significant other. This is not an endorsement for going back to Charley's if a more spacious venue is available, affordable for all, and preferred by most.
As someone who still lives in close proximity to Long Branch, I understand that it is difficult to book a place near the Ocean or river in summer or early fall. That said, since we all lived here once, how many would prefer to reunite and reminisce close to "home"? McCloone's is more spacious (albeit more expensive) than Charley's, so if upstairs at the Pier House is still available on Saturday, 8/29/15 at a reasonable cost, its a no-brainer. Go for it.

I would prefer a Saturday evening sit down dinner. It would be nice to be in Long Branch but more important to be comfortable, space enough where all can be in the same room. I would like to have a disignated time to pay tribute to those that have passed, perhaps some kind of slideshow: past and present photos, sundry photos depicting 1961 - 1965 events, happenings, sports records etc. Meeting and greeting might be spread out over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Reunion shoud have some planned Presentations. Charlies Ocean Grill was nice BUT only a small number of graduates (approx 50 with their significant other) attended. We are actively reaching out to the other 300 or so members which might dramatically increase attendence. Charlies Ocean Grill's stated capacity is just over 100. I'm thinking Rod's Shadowbrook, Jumping Brook Country Club, possibly The English Manor.
